Possible Causes
NOTE: The listed causes may not be a complete list of all potential problems and there may be other causes.
- Faulty intake camshaft position sensor
- Intake camshaft position sensor harness is open or shorted
- Poor electrical connection in the intake camshaft position sensor circuit
Description
With the engine running, the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) input is above 158°F, VSS input is above 5 mph, the PCM did not detect a change in camshaft timing with the active CMP actuator, or the PCM detected that camshaft timing was corrected, either condition was met for 20 seconds.
How to Repair
Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)
