P1286 ACURA Code – Low Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Stuck

Posted by

P1286 ACURA code possible causes

  • Low engine oil level
  • Faulty engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor
  • Engine oil pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the engine oil pressure sensor circuit

How is the P1286 ACURA code repair performed?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

What are the possible symptoms of the P1286 ACURA code?

  • Check engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)

What is the meaning of the P1286 ACURA code?

Two rocker arm oil control solenoids open and close based on commands from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and oil pressure is applied then removed from the Valve Pause System (VPS) to alter valve timing and valve operation.
The PCM monitors the switching mechanism’s oil pressure using an engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor and a rocker arm oil pressure switch downstream of the rocker arm oil control solenoid. The PCM compares the oil pressure based on the PCM command and the oil pressure status from the EOP sensor and rocker arm oil pressure switch to determine if the system is operating normally.
