P1272 LEXUS – Fuel Pressure Regulator Circuit

Posted by

P1272 LEXUS Possible Causes

  • Clogged fuel filter
  • Fuel leak
  • Faulty pressure regulator valve
  • Pressure regulator valve harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the pressure regulator valve circuit
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Faulty engine control module (ECM)

How is the P1272 LEXUS code repaired?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the wiring harness and associated connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Possible Symptoms

  • Check engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)

P1272 LEXUS Meaning

With a cold engine, the internal pressure of the common rail is regulated by the pressure regulator valve of the common rail assembly. With a hot engine, it is regulated by the intake regulator valve of the fuel supply pump. When the engine is running under low load, it is regulated by both the pressure regulator valve and the intake regulator valve. Based on signals from the engine control module (ECM), the pressure control valve opens when a sudden deceleration occurs to prevent fuel pressure from becoming too high. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is set when the engine control module has determined that the fuel rail pressure does not meet factory specifications.
