P1237 FORD F150 – Secondary Fuel Pump Circuit Malfunction

Posted by

P1237 FORD F150 Possible Causes

  • Faulty Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM)
  • Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) circuit
  • Faulty fuel pump

How to Fix Code P1237 FORD F150?

Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Technical Notes

Note: For LS6/LS8 and Thunderbird, the FPDM functions are integrated into the Rear Electronic Module (REM). Additionally, the REM does not use an FPM circuit. Diagnostic information is sent over the communication link.
P1237 indicates that the FPDM detected a fault in the fuel pump secondary circuit. The FPDM will send a message to the PCM via the FPM circuit, indicating that this fault has been detected. The PCM will set the DTC when the message is received.

When is the Code Detected?

The Fuel Pump Driver Module detected a fault in the fuel pump secondary circuit

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light On (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
  • Engine does not start

P1237 FORD F150 Meaning

Fuel Pump Driver Modules (FPDM) control the fuel pump voltage to maintain proper fuel pressure across the entire engine operating range. Code P1237 indicates that the FPDM detected a fuel pump secondary circuit problem. The FPDM sends a message to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) via the Fuel Pump Monitor (FPM) circuit indicating that this issue has been detected. The PCM sets the DTC when the message is received.
