P1236 NISSAN – Throttle Control Motor Circuit Short, Row 2

Posted by

P1236 NISSAN Possible Causes

  • Faulty Electronic Throttle Control Actuator (ETC) (throttle control motor)
  • Electronic Throttle Control Actuator (ETC) harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the Electronic Throttle Control Actuator (ETC) circuit

How to Fix P1236 NISSAN Code?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding cable harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

When is the Code Detected?

The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects short circuits in both circuits between the ECM and the throttle control motor.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine light on (or engine service warning light soon)

P1236 NISSAN Meaning

The throttle control motor is operated by the Engine Control Module (ECM) and it opens and closes the throttle valve. The current throttle valve opening angle is detected by the throttle position sensor and it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle control motor to make the throttle valve opening angle correctly in response to the driving condition.
