P1232 Possible Causes
- Faulty low-speed fuel pump
- Faulty fuel pump relay
- Low-speed fuel pump harness is open or shorted
- Poor electrical connection in the low-speed fuel pump circuit
- Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
How is code P1232 repaired?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Technical Notes
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the output of the low-speed fuel pump (LFP) primary circuit from the PCM. The test fails if: when the LFP circuit is activated (grounded), excessive current consumption is detected on the LFP circuit; or when the LFP circuit is deactivated, voltage is not detected on the LFP circuit (the PCM expects to detect VPWR voltage passing through the low-speed fuel pump relay coil to the LFP circuit).
Possible Symptoms
- Engine light on (or engine warning light soon to be on)
P1232 Meaning
Low-speed fuel pump primary circuit failure is the generic description for code P1232, but the manufacturer may have a different description for your vehicle’s model and year. Currently, we do not have additional information about the OBDII P1232 code.
