P1223 DODGE Possible Causes
- Reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Faulty fuel injector
- Fuel injector harness is open or shorted
- Poor electrical connection in the fuel injector circuit
How to Fix P1223 DODGE Code?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine light on (or engine service warning light soon)
P1223 DODGE Meaning
There is a required amount of fuel needed by the fuel system to maintain system stability. The required fuel amount depends on fuel pressure, injection quantity, engine speed, and coolant temperature. The Engine Control Module (ECM) sets “Leak Detected” when the fuel flow exceeds an expected value. When a leak is detected in the system, a counter is started. When the counter reaches a predetermined value, a fault is set and engine derating is activated. When the leak is not detected, the counter counts down, and once the counter is at zero, the engine is returned to normal operating conditions. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when the counter reaches a calibrated value.
