P1209 – Injection Control System Pressure Peak Fault

Posted by

P1209 Possible Causes

  • Low oil level in the reservoir
  • Poor oil quality
  • Injector O-ring leak
  • Faulty Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) valve
  • Faulty oil pressure pump
  • Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

How is P1209 Code Repaired?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Technical Notes

Check that the oil quality, viscosity, and fuel quality are suitable for the temperature conditions. Replace oil/fuel if necessary.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine light on (or engine service warning light soon)

P1209 Meaning

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the injection control system pressure. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) indicates that the Injection Control Pressure (ICP) was not within specifications under normal driving conditions.
