P1154 Pontiac – HO2S Transition Time Ratio, Bank 2 Sensor 1

Posted by

P1154 PONTIAC Possible Causes

  • Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S), Bank 2 Sensor 1
  • Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Bank 2 Sensor 1 harness open or shorted
  • Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S), Bank 2, Sensor 1 circuit, poor electrical connection

How to Fix P1154 PONTIAC Code?

Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

When is the Code Detected?

The P1154 code sets if the HO2S ratio is not within range.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light On (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P1154 PONTIAC Meaning

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) continuously monitors the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) activity for 100 seconds. During the monitoring period, the PCM counts the number of times the HO2S responds from rich to lean and from lean to rich and adds the time it took to perform all transitions. With this information, an average time for all transitions can be determined. The PCM then divides the rich to lean average by the lean to rich average to obtain a ratio.
