P0A2D Meaning
The resistance of the thermistor, which is enclosed in engine temperature sensor No. 1, changes according to engine temperature changes. The lower the engine temperature, the higher the thermistor resistance. Conversely, the higher the temperature, the lower the resistance. Engine temperature sensor No. 1 is connected to the HV control ECU. The 5V supply voltage is provided from the MMT terminal of the HV control ECU to engine temperature sensor No. 1 via resistor R.
Since resistor R and engine temperature sensor No. 1 are connected in series, the resistance changes with engine temperature changes, which also causes the voltage across MMT to change. Based on this signal, the HV control ECU limits the load to prevent the engine from overheating. Additionally, the HV control ECU checks engine temperature sensor No. 1 for wiring malfunction and the sensor for malfunction.
