At a recent unexpected auction near Atlanta, an extremely rare General Motors EV1 was sold for $104,000. This pioneering electric model is one of only a handful still in existence, with the auctioned vehicle being a rare survivor that escaped the fate of destruction.

The GM EV1, as the groundbreaking model of modern electric vehicles, was produced between 1996 and 1999. Due to General Motors’ decision to recall and destroy most EV1s, only about 40 units remain worldwide today. These surviving vehicles are mostly held by museums or privately preserved by former engineers, rarely appearing on the open market.
