  • Perform the glow plug learning procedure
  • Faulty glow plug 3
  • Glow plug 3 circuit is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in glow plug 3 circuit

If a glow plug has been replaced, perform a glow plug learning procedure using a scan tool.⚠

Description

The glow plug control module has not learned the glow plug offset values. If a glow plug has been replaced and glow plug learning has not been performed, or if the glow plug control module experiences an EEPROM error or data corruption, this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be set. The DTC will be set if the hot resistance of the glow plugs is outside a predefined threshold.

How to Repair

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the wiring harness and related connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine light on (or engine maintenance warning light soon)
