Xpeng G6 and G9 Produced in Europe: A Price Drop Expected?

Posted by
Xpeng G9 Production Europe With the start of its production in Europe, Xpeng aims to free itself from the taxes that have been imposed on its electric cars for over a year. However, there is bad news regarding the ecological bonus.

A European Strategy for Xpeng

The Chinese automaker Xpeng has officially started production of its flagship models, the G6 and G9, on European soil. This strategic decision marks a significant turning point for the brand, which is seeking to strengthen its presence in the Old Continent.

Towards Lower Prices for the G6 and G9 Models?

Local production allows Xpeng to bypass the customs duties applicable to vehicles imported from China. These taxes, which directly impact the final selling price, could therefore be largely eliminated. European consumers can legitimately hope for a significant reduction in the acquisition cost of the brand’s electric SUVs.

The Impact on the Ecological Bonus

While the news is positive regarding the list price, there is a downside concerning government incentives. Indeed, a vehicle produced in Europe is not necessarily eligible for the French ecological bonus, which often requires that the battery also be assembled there. This regulatory nuance could deprive future buyers of this grant, a crucial factor to consider in the final calculation.

Xpeng: Increased Competition for Tesla and Others

This European establishment strengthens Xpeng’s position against its direct competitors, such as Tesla or German premium manufacturers. By offering high-end vehicles at a potentially more competitive price, the Chinese brand has a strong argument to attract demanding customers.
