P2794 Possible Causes

  • Faulty range sensor
  • Faulty transmission shift lever
  • Shift lever harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in shift lever circuit

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Possible Symptoms

Check Engine Light on (or Service Engine Soon warning light)

P2794 Meaning

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) monitors the gate select direction circuit signal. The TCM sets the OBDII code when the gate select circuit signal is outside factory specifications.
