Fault Code P244B – Meaning, Symptoms, Causes, and Solutions

🔍 Meaning of Code P244B

Code P244B indicates a problem with the diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the aftertreatment system.
The engine control module (ECM) uses an exhaust pressure sensor to monitor the pressure on both sides of the DPF.
If the ECM detects that the DPF is missing or not functioning correctly, this code is stored.
It is a two-trip DTC, meaning the fault must be detected twice before the code becomes active.
In this case, active DPF regeneration is disabled, and the engine warning light may illuminate.

⚠️ Possible Symptoms

  • Engine warning light on (Check Engine or “Service Engine Soon”)

🛠️ Possible Causes of Code P244B

  • Faulty diesel particulate filter
  • Exhaust leak before or near the DPF pressure sensor
  • Leak in the DPF pressure sensor connecting hose
  • Aftermarket parts or performance modifications affecting the exhaust system

🔧 How to Fix Code P244B

  1. Check the possible causes listed above.
  2. Visually inspect:
    • The wiring harness
    • Associated connectors
  3. Look for:
    • Damaged components
    • Broken, bent, corroded, or pushed-out connector pins
