P1238 Possible Causes

  • Poor electrical connection in the Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) circuit
  • Faulty fuel pump

How is code P1238 repaired?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

  • Engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)

P1238 Meaning

This DTC indicates that the Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM2) has detected a fuel pump secondary circuit issue. The FPDM2 sends a message to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) via the Fuel Pump Monitor (FPM2) circuit, indicating that this problem has been detected. The PCM sets the DTC when the message is received.
