P1227 NISSAN – Low Input of Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 Circuit

Posted by

P1227 NISSAN Possible Causes

  • Faulty Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor
  • Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor Harness is Open or Shorted
  • Poor Electrical Connection in Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor Circuit

How to Fix Code P1227 NISSAN?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

When is the Code Detected?

An excessively low voltage from the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 is sent to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light On (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P1227 NISSAN Meaning

The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor is installed on the upper end of the accelerator pedal assembly. The sensor detects the accelerator pedal position and sends a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor has two sensors. These sensors are a type of potentiometer that convert the accelerator pedal position into an output voltage and emit the voltage signal to the ECM.
Additionally, these sensors detect the opening and closing speed of the accelerator pedal and transmit the voltage signals to the ECM. The ECM evaluates the current accelerator pedal opening angle from these signals and controls the throttle control motor based on these signals.
The idle position of the accelerator pedal is determined by the ECM receiving the signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. The ECM uses this signal for engine operation, such as fuel cut-off.
