P1222 JEEP Possible Causes
- Reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Faulty fuel injector
- Fuel injector harness is open or short-circuited
- Poor electrical connection of the fuel injector circuit
How to Fix JEEP P1222 Code?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine light on (or engine warning light soon on)
P1222 JEEP Meaning
When the engine is running (i.e., the engine is turning but does not require any fuel injection), the only fuel supply needed for the rail is due to natural leakage in the system. The natural leakage directly depends on the rail pressure. A defined amount of fuel is needed to overcome the natural leakage, for different fuel pressures. The Engine Control Module (ECM) sets Leak detected when the fuel flow exceeds an expected value. When a leak is detected in the system, a counter is started. When the counter reaches a predetermined value, a fault is set and engine derating is activated. When the leak is not detected, the counter counts down, and once the counter is at zero, the engine is returned to normal operating conditions. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when the counter reaches a calibrated value.
