P1220 NISSAN – Fuel Pump Control Module

Posted by

P1220 NISSAN Possible Causes

  • Faulty Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM)
  • Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) circuit
  • Faulty dropping resistor

How to Fix Code P1220 NISSAN?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

When is the Code Detected?

An incorrect voltage signal from the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM), which is supplied to a point between the fuel pump and the dropping resistor, is detected by the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine light on (or engine warning light soon)

P1220 NISSAN Meaning

This system controls the operation of the fuel pump. The amount of fuel flow delivered by the fuel pump is changed between two flow rates by the operation of the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM). The FPCM determines the voltage supplied to the fuel pump (and thus the fuel flow) according to the following conditions.
The FPCM adjusts the voltage supplied to the fuel pump to control the amount of fuel flow. When the FPCM increases the voltage supplied to the fuel pump, the fuel flow is increased. When the FPCM decreases the voltage, the fuel flow decreases.
