Posted by

P1194 KIA Possible Causes

  • Faulty Electronic Throttle System (ETS) motor
  • Faulty Electronic Throttle System (ETS)
  • Electronic Throttle System (ETS) unit
  • Electronic Throttle System (ETS) harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in Electronic Throttle System (ETS) circuit

How to Fix P1194 KIA Code?

Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding cable harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)
  • Engine limited performance in fail-safe mode)

P1194 KIA Meaning

The Electronic Throttle System (ETS) consists of an ETS unit, ETS motor, Accelerator Position Sensor (APS), Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), and Limp return valve.
Among the parts mentioned above, the Limp return valve is mounted under the throttle body and helps air flow from outside through this valve into the engine combustion chamber to prevent the vehicle from stalling when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects an ETS system malfunction.
