P1174 BUICK Possible Causes
- Clogged fuel injectors
- Faulty oxygen sensor
- Ignition problem
- Fuel injection problem
- Engine mechanical condition
How to Fix P1174 BUICK Code?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Technical Notes
The P1174 code is sometimes triggered by clogged fuel injectors. Start by using high-octane fuel and/or a fuel additive to clean the injectors. If the problem persists, the fuel injectors may need to be replaced.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine light on (or engine warning light soon in service)
P1174 BUICK Meaning
Fuel cylinder balance diagnostics detect an imbalance in the air/fuel ratio between cylinders and cylinders in each row. The diagnostics monitor the frequency and amplitude characteristics of the pre-catalyst heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) signal by calculating an accumulated voltage over a predetermined sampling period. An imbalance is indicated when multiple samples of the accumulated voltage are consistently higher than the desired value.
