P1134 BUICK – HO2S Transition Time Ratio, Bank 1 Sensor 1

Posted by

P1134 BUICK Possible Causes

What does this mean?

  • Faulty HO2S sensor, bank 1 sensor 1
  • Open or short circuit in HO2S bank 1 sensor 1 wiring harness
  • Poor electrical connection in HO2S bank 1 sensor 1 circuit

How to fix P1134 BUICK code?

Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

When is the code detected?

P1134 is set if the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the HO2S ratio is out of range.

Possible Symptoms

  • Check engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)

P1134 BUICK Meaning

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the activity of the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). During the monitoring period, the PCM counts the number of times the HO2S responds from rich to lean and from lean to rich and adds the time it took to complete all transitions. With this information, an average time for all transitions can be determined. The PCM then divides the rich to lean average by the lean to rich average to obtain a ratio.
