P1122 – Intermittent Low Voltage in Throttle Position Sensor Circuit

Posted by

P1122 Possible Causes

  • Faulty electronic throttle control actuator
  • Electronic throttle control actuator wiring harness open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in electronic throttle control actuator circuit

How to Fix Code P1122?

Start by checking the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Possible Symptoms

Check engine light illuminated (or service engine soon warning light)

P1122 Meaning

The electronic throttle control actuator consists of a throttle control motor, throttle position sensor (TPS), etc. The throttle control motor is operated by the engine control module (ECM) and it opens and closes the throttle valve.

The throttle position sensor detects the throttle valve position and the opening/closing speed of the throttle valve and transmits voltage signals to the ECM. The ECM evaluates the current throttle opening angle from these signals and the ECM controls the throttle control motor to make the throttle opening angle properly respond to driving conditions.
