P1102 NISSAN Possible Causes
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Poor electrical connection in mass air flow sensor circuit
Intake air leaks
How to Fix P1102 NISSAN Code?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
What Does It Mean?
Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low-pressure compressed air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset the code and drive the vehicle. If the code returns, the mass air flow sensor may need to be replaced.
When Is the Code Detected?
The sensor voltage is constantly about 1.0V when the engine is running.
Possible Symptoms
- Check engine light on (or service engine soon warning light)
- Engine stalling
- Engine runs rough
- Excessive fuel consumption
- Excessive smoke
P1102 NISSAN Meaning
The mass air flow sensor (MAF) is placed in the intake air stream. It measures the intake flow rate by measuring a portion of the entire intake flow. It consists of a hot film supplied with electric current by the engine control module (ECM).
The temperature of the hot film is controlled by the ECM by a certain amount. The heat generated by the hot film is reduced as the intake air flows across it. The more air there is, the greater the heat loss. Therefore, the ECM must supply more electric current to maintain the hot film’s temperature when the air flow increases. The ECM detects the air flow rate through this current change.
