P1100 Possible Causes
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Air leak before or after the sensor
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Poor electrical connection in the mass air flow sensor circuit
How is P1100 Code Repaired?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding cable harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Technical notes
What Does It Mean?
Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the mass air flow sensor with mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset the code and drive the vehicle. If the code returns, the mass air flow sensor may need to be replaced.
When Is the Code Detected?
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected a mass air flow sensor (MAF) signal higher or lower than the calibrated limit
Possible Symptoms
Check engine light illuminated (or service engine soon warning light)
P1100 Meaning
The mass air flow sensor (MAF) circuit is monitored by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for a sudden change in voltage input (or air flow) via the Comprehensive Component Monitor (CCM). If, during the last 40 key-on engine warm-up cycles, the PCM detects a voltage (or air flow) change beyond the minimum or maximum calibrated limit, a continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1100 is stored.
