P1077 Possible Causes

  • Faulty intake manifold runner control valve (IMRC)
  • IMRC valve circuit is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the IMRC valve circuit

Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

Illuminated engine light (or service engine soon warning light)

P1077 Meaning

Engine power is achieved by closing and opening the intake manifold runner control valve (IMRC). When the valve is closed, torque is high at low engine RPM. When the valve is open, there is high torque and high engine RPM.
