B0023 BUICK Possible Causes
- Faulty right roof rail airbag
- Right roof rail airbag harness is open or shorted
- Poor electrical connection in the right roof rail airbag circuit
- Faulty Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM)
How to Fix B0023 BUICK Code?
Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
Technical Notes

DTC B0023 0E: Right roof rail airbag deployment loop resistance below threshold
Possible Symptoms
- Airbag warning light illuminated
B0023 BUICK Meaning
During a side or frontal collision of sufficient force, the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) will allow current to flow through the deployment loop to deploy the right roof rail airbag. The SDM performs continuous diagnostic tests on the deployment loops to verify proper circuit continuity and shorts to ground or voltage. A shorting bar is used in the right roof rail airbag connector that shorts the high and low circuits together when the connector is disconnected. This helps prevent unwanted airbag deployment during maintenance.
