B0016 SATURN – Left Roof Rail Deployment Loop Step 1

Posted by

B0016 SATURN Possible Causes

  • Faulty left roof rail module
  • Left roof rail module harness is open or shorted
  • Poor electrical connection in the left roof rail module circuit
  • Faulty Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM)

How to Fix B0016 SATURN Code?

Start by checking the “possible causes” listed above. Visually inspect the corresponding wiring harness and connectors. Look for damaged components and check for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.

B0016 SATURN Meaning

During a side or frontal collision of sufficient force, the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) of the inflatable restraint system will allow current to flow into the deployment loop to deploy an inflatable restraint module. There are 2 shorting bars used in the module connector that will short the high and low circuits together when the connector is disconnected. This helps prevent unwanted deployment of the inflatable module during maintenance.
